Comenta-se na mídia que em 2011, 30 anos depois de sua morte, será lançado um documentário sobre a vida dele com a autorização da família. Teria sido Ziggy Marley, seu próprio filho, quem convidou o diretor Kevin MacDonald, de One Day in September, para tocar o projeto. Este terá cenas rodadas na Jamaica, Gana, Japão, Reino Unido e Estados Unidos.
